Our Mission of NW Fire Velo is Firefighters winning the hearts of Americans through cycling for Veterans and First Responders, honoring those who sacrifice for our freedoms and our safety.
Northwest Fire Velo is a nonprofit organization of Northwest United States professional and retired IAFF firefighters. As a fire department-based cycling organization, NW Fire Velo shall support severely wounded Veterans & First Responders, cancer awareness, provide firefighter wellness and to promote fund raising for other nonprofit organizations and specific causes.
NW Fire Velo is open to all levels of riders from beginner to advance riders; weekend riders to racers; roadies to mountain bikers.
2021 Ride For America
Fire Velo and NW Fire Velo present 2021 Ride for America starting August 1st, from Santa Monica, California. 15 active and retired firefighters from California, Washington, and Colorado will ride across the country in remembrance of those who lost their lives and were impacted on that fateful morning almost 20 years ago.
Cyclists will stop to pay their respects at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County Pennsylvania, The Pentagon and finally arriving in NYC at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum on
September 9, 2021.
Cyclist will travel over 3,300 miles in 40 days, reaching out to communities small and large across our great country.
Their efforts will include raising funds for four nonprofit foundations benefiting firefighter cancer awareness, firefighter mental health, and severely wounded veterans. San Francisco Firefighter Cancer Prevention Foundation, Friends of Firefighters, The Fire Family Foundation and The Gary Sinise Foundation – RISE Program.
